Final Results for 2012-2013 season

Country South Junior Cricket Results for March 23rd Lincoln successfully defended their Country South Junior Cricket Section 1 title winning the Ken Wadsworth Trophy in the final against Weedons Dragons at Weedons Domain. The Dragons had beaten Lincoln in two previous encounters this season. Lincoln were put into bat on a dewy outfield and faced some good accurate bowling. As conditions dried out there was some powerful batting from Will Wroe (24), Brett Gillan (27) and Edgar Paterson (29no) despite some accurate bowling from Jonty Fleming (2/4), Matt Lane (2/9) and Liam Mason (2/22). Lincoln scored 139/7 off their 30 overs. The Dragons started well with some sensible batting from Jack Ryder and Jonty Fleming. However, once the Lincoln bowlers found their length they applied some real pressure with Liam Robinson (2/15), Will Wroe (2/8), Edgar Paterson (1/5) and Findlay Jones (1/10) all bowling well. Sam Clarke (18no) showed some resistance but the Dragons ended up being dismissed for 87. In other games the Weedons Bulldogs confirmed third place with a handy win over Darfield while Kirwee had an exciting one run win over the fast improving Weedons Outlaws.

Section 2 finished with a tense final with Lincoln at home to Weedons Renegades. Lincoln batted first and made 115, mainly thanks to contributions from Robson Harkers and Callum Vallance. Weedons were under constant pressure with good bowling and fielding before being dismissed for 74 for Lincoln to retain the Kevin O’Connell Cup. The Section 2b Final was a low scoring win by Darfield (79/4) over Weedons Crusaders (38). The section 1 semis were close affairs. Runs were hard to come by at Lincoln where the home team struggled through to 108 largely thanks to Brett Gillans 32 in the face of good bowling from Tim Bridgman and Carlito Shalfoon and the rest of the attack. Weedons paced their chase well with Mark Woolford getting 20. A rash of run outs late in the innings saw the Weedons dismissed in the 29^th over for 97. At Weedons the home team (Dragons) made 169 with good contributions from Jack Ryder, Jonty Fleming, Matt Lane and Liam Mason. Darfield put in a great chase with Toby Kars and Jesse Frew keeping them in the hunt but ultimately fell short at 150/6. Weedons Dragons will host Lincoln in the Ken Wadsworth Cup final this Saturday.

Country South Junior Cricket Results for March 9^th

 A damp, cool last round for Section's 3 and 4 as well as an intriguing last round of section 1 and the play-offs for section 2.

The conclusion of the round robin competition for section 1 ended with Weedons Dragons and Lincoln first equal and then Weedons Bulldogs, Kirwee and Darfield third equal. The semi-finalists were determined by who had won when teams had played one another. Weedons Dragons (1) will play Darfield (4) and Lincoln (2) will play Weedons Bulldogs (3) in the semis next weekend.

In Section 2a, defending champs from last season Lincoln will meet Weedons Renegades in the final while in section 2b Darfield will play Weedons Crusaders.
